Parts of Speech Review

Have fun watching the videos, but make sure you know which words are which! I'll put up a practice test tomorrow! : )

You will need to identify the parts of speech. Here's an example:
The beautiful girl went shopping with her mother. What part of speech is the word that is "bold"? (Answer: beautiful is an adjective)
You need to know these parts of speech: article, adjective, preposition, adverb, noun, verb, conjunction, interjection, and pronoun.

Articles: A, An, The (Yes, only those three. That's it!)

Adjectives: (words that DESCRIBE nouns) beautiful, pretty, green, ugly, smelly, stinky, crazy


Preposition: (words that show the relationship between nouns) in, out, on, under, with, at, to, for, across, inside, between


Adverb: (words that describe verbs and make things INTENSE) very, quickly, too, absolutely, definitely, happily, sadly, cruelly


noun: person, place, thing, or idea


verb: ACTION WORD!


Conjunction: and, but, or, because, however, therefore, so (combines sentences or lists)


interjection: OH! OW! OUCH! HEY! WOW! HOORAY!


pronoun: takes the place of a noun... hers, his, my, our, their, him, her, they, we, I, you, she, he, it, its


You also need to know the subject and predicate parts of the sentence...
