Reading Comprehension Final

Your reading comprehension exam has 4 parts. It is on Tuesday.

PLEASE CHECK HERE ON MONDAY, I WILL HAVE THE ANSWERS AND THE STORIES AND POEMS YOU NEED TO READ!!!

The first part is reading a story and answering the questions. There are four short answer questions and 7 multiple choice questions. You will need to make a story time line, explain the plot, describe the characters, and compare two characters using a Venn Diagram. Then you will have to answer multiple choice questions about the story to see if you understood it.
You should know what these words mean: story time line, plot, conflict, climax, resolution, characters, protagonist, antagonist, and narrator.

The second part of the final you have to read three poems and answer multiple choice questions.
You need to know what a rhyme is.

You will then have to write a short paragraph about the poems.

The next part of your final is matching. There are 10 words.

Fourth Term Science Review Answers

1. What is a hypothesis?
An educated guess we make about something we have observed. It is the second step of the scientific method. We can test it with an experiment.

A series of steps scientists use to answer questions they have about the world and the universe.

First animals make carbon dioxide. The plant absorbs sunglight, water in the ground, and carbon dioxide from animals. It then goes through the process of transpiration and makes food in the cholorplasts, which are in plant cells inside the leaves. Writing Exam

You can practice for your writing exam tonight by using these questions.

Directions: Choose one of the options below, and on a piece of lined paper (that I give you), please write your answer. I will be grading your grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, transitions, content, understanding of the question, content, sentences, and writing structure.

Choice 1: Write a letter to Stella about what you want to change at LPV. Try to persuade her to agree with you. 25 sentences.

Math Review

Hello class. These are the topics on your math final. To practice, you should do the problems I assign in the book. If you need help, please tell me!!!

Your math final has 70 questions. 25 of those questions are from Terms 1 to 3. The rest are from Term 4.

Here are the things you need to do:
1. Write a very big decimal number in word form. Something like 13,492,345,654.234
2. Compare numbers using <, >, and =. You will need to compare decimals, fractions, and whole numbers.
3. Change decimal numbers into fractions. (Like 0.25 turns into 25/100, which can be simplified to 1/4).
4. Do a word problem where you have to multiply a decimal number.
5. Add, Subtract, Multiply and divide decimal numbers and whole numbers.
6. Find the missing number/solve the problem when given a number using Algebra skills. (For example, if y + 3 = 7, what is y?)
7. Know multiples, factors, greatest common factor, and least common multiple.
8. Know divisibility rules.
9. Know prime numbers and what numbers are prime and what numbers are not prime.
10. Know composite numbers.
11. Know even and odd numbers.
12. Know exponents.
13. Know square roots.
14. Know how to do a prime factorization.

Geometry skills from term 4:
1. Know parallel, perpendicular, types of lines and rays, and intersecting lines.

The blog is going to be working during finals!

Hi class,

I just wanted to let you know that I will be posting reviews for your finals. I am using my very old Sony computer. I had to get it back from a friend.

So... make sure you bring your book report book to school on Monday. I've decided to collect your journals on Tuesday instead of Monday, and I'm going to give you time in class to work on your journals on Monday while I am doing oral interviews. You need to have your book report journals, your worksheet, and your presentation ready for Tuesday morning.

Your oral interview is on Monday. To practice, try to speak in English this weekend. If you can, find a friend and practice asking each other questions and answering them. Use good grammar and pronunciation! To help you, watch movies and T.V. in English.

Your writing exam is Tuesday. We will talk about it in class on Monday. You need to draw and label the robot structure and explain how we use it. You also need to know the differences between expository, narrative, and persuasive writing.

Here are the definitions:
Expository: Non-fiction, informational writing, like an essay about lions.
Narrative: Non-fiction or fiction, but it tells a story. If you wrote about your favorite vacation, that would be narrative.
Persuasive: Non-fiction writing that is trying to make someone believe something. For example, you could write an essay about why sushi is better than pizza.

You also need to be able to write a letter.

You will write a five paragraph essay, with five sentences in each paragraph, on your final. You will have four choices about what you have to write about. You will need to use good transitions, good structure, good grammar, good spelling, and have good information. I will give you the questions on Monday so you can practice at home.

Finally, here are your spelling words. Your spelling final is Thursday. You should practice these words and know their definitions.

Language Arts Update

Hi class.

Tomorrow the only thing you have due is your 5 paragraph ROUGH DRAFT essay about art. It can be in your notebook, it can be typed, it doesn't matter. It's just a rough draft. We'll work on them at school.

The final draft is due on Thursday and the presentation is on Friday.

For your book report, here are the journal questions. I will give you a copy of the questions and the worksheet you need to do for the book report this week.

ournal Questions

Directions: Please TYPE or WRITE the answers to your journals on a separate piece of paper. Do not write these in your notebooks. Do not write them on PowerPoint. Write them on lined paper with good handwriting or type them in Microsoft Word using 12 point font. Do not email them to me. These are due on Monday, November 8th. Each journal entry should be 15 sentences.

Journal question 1:
At the beginning of the book, what is happening? What do you think will happen next? What do you think will happen at the end?

Journal question 2:
Who are the main characters in the book? What do they act like? Do you like the main characters? Why or why not?

Journal question 3:
In class in Term 3, we talked about “rising action” that leads to the climax and then the resolution. Make a time-line of your book that shows the introduction of the problem, the rising action, the climax, and the resolution. Include at least 10 events.

Journal question 4:
If you could change something about your book, what would you change? Why?

Journal question 5:
Draw a picture of something that happens in your book. Explain what is happening. (This journal only needs 5 sentences.)
